For the fun of it…

Sometimes a scene catches your attention for reasons you can’t identify.  Nonetheless, you start shooting in hope you can somehow capture what has drawn you in.  Every now and then you might get close.  You might even find it.

I was completely captivated the other day by a large flock of turkey vultures circling my neighborhood.  How it feels to have a huge flock of turkey vultures circling one’s neighborhood is the subject for another discussion.  In this case, I wasn’t sure what drew me in other than the sheer number of birds, but then I caught it.  They were riding around on thermals for hours with what appeared to be excitement and enthusiasm.  Other than that they were accomplishing very little.  In my non-ornithological mind I’m relatively certain they were flying simply for the fun of it.  How wonderful.

Love the blog Gum! I especially liked this entry regarding the birds. Wouldn’t you do the same if you could fly?

Very nice, Jimmy…is this a pan and a slow shutter (the body seems to have a definite line)?
